SATURDAY PREMIER CUP |
|
FINAL |
|
Holland 1 v 0 Maldon St Mary's |
| Wednesday 15th April 2009 |
| at New Lodge 7:45pm k.o | |
| |
A single goal from Lee Nash left Holland manager Tony Davis "elated" as his team claimed the Essex Saturday Premier Cup crown with a 1-0 win over Maldon St. Mary's.
"I didn't think the game would be full of chances, and in truth it could have gone either way," was Davis' assessment of a tight Cup final at Billericay Town F.C. "There was respect there from both teams, but we could only do our job, and I thought the lads were fantastic."
Holland were dealt a severe blow when their captain, Wayne Morris, was carried off of the field just 17 minutes into the clash with a suspected hamstring injury, with Maldon having made the brighter start. Tom Broadhurst, who provided a threat on the right flank for St. Mary's all evening, was unfortunate in just the 2nd minute as his snap-shot from a Glenn Moss corner was turned around the post by Alex Ball in the Holland goal.
At the mid-way point of the first half, the Clacton-based outfit began to edge into the tie, with Warren Taylor narrowly failing to convert Nash's skimming centre at the far post before Craig Nice saved Joe Martin's speculative forty-yard effort.
The game's decisive moment arrived 37 minutes in. Moss appeared set to instigate an attack of his own for St. Mary's, but found himself robbed of possession in the centre circle and Holland swept forward, Nash completing the move by arrowing a shot across the face and inside the far post. "I was always confident Lee would score; he's a great lad and he doesn't get flustered in that sort of situation. He's deceptively clever," Davis said.
Nice was drawn into a fine low save minutes before the interval from Martin's strong effort, and he was fortunate soon after the break when Martin nodded Frankie Parish's corner wide of the left-hand upright, but for much of the closing half-an-hour it was St. Mary's who carved out the better opportunities.
They were aided by the dismissal of Holland midfielder Shaun Hanney for committing two cautionable offences on 68 minutes with Gordon Wilson immediately seeing a shot blocked out for a corner. Alex Creasy's trickery on the left-wing later led to Wilson having another effort thwarted, before substitute Matt Elderton smashed the rebound over.
With just five minutes remaining, Glenn Jones latched onto a looping through ball, only to slash wide and Ball did brilliantly to push Wilson's flicked header over from point-blank range. As St. Mary's continued to burst forward, even sending gloveman Nice up for some late set-pieces, Holland almost grabbed a second when Simon Walker diverted Martin's whipped cross over his own crossbar during six minutes of stoppage time.
"I'm over the moon. I'm really pleased for Warren Taylor, as it's likely to be his last season with us, and Wayne Morris, who is a really important player. We were covered on the bench, but your gameplay does change when someone goes off so early," Davis suggested. "We were thinking 'Here we go again' after the sending off, but we still had faith, especially after the semi-final. I'm pleased for the supporters, who were fantastic, and the chairman, who has done a really professional job with the club. It's just a shame that there weren't more people there to see it as this is such a great competition to be involved in." |

|
Car Parking
Would all managers and parents and away team supporters please note that there have been a number of complaints to the council reference parking at Holland training sessions and at games.
And that parking is provided at the club, and at some point in the near future the car park would be made bigger.
Can every one please park the cars in the car park and not outside people’s houses?
As the Club don’t want these complaints to continue.
Many Thanks |

| 11/05/2008 - Holland Lose Open Cup Final |
|
This was the first of 2 cup finals that these boys are in.
This was such a good contested match between 2 strong teams and there was not much in it.
Ransome started the game well and where putting Holland under pressure.
Midway through the first half Ansemi broke on the left and went past the defender and hit the ball towards the goal . The shot hit the near top corner post.
This seemed to awake Holland up a bit. and just on the stroke of half time the break through came for Holland through Ansemi.
HalfTime Holland 1 Ransome 0
The 2nd half got under way, and within a few minutes ransome striker latched onto a ball and raced onto goal with just the keeper to beat.. he neatly tucked it into the net. a dubios goal as he was at least a yard off side. but the linesman never saw it that way.
Holland soon struck back through ansemi to restore the lead
Holland just had to hold out for a few minutes to claim the cup.
disaster struck as Ransome was awarded a penalty. which took the referee ages to make up his mind.
The penalty was struck to the left, hard and low. Glen pym was so unlucky not to get a hand to this .. but was just out of his reach.
With Extra Time looming the final whistle went.
Glen Harms Hollands Manager had a few minutes to sort out his team.
The first half Of extra time went by with both teams cancelling each other out.
The 2nd Half of extra time went by the same way untill in the last few minutes Ransome was awarded a free kick just outside the area. this was hit towards goal. and off a rebound Ransome stuck the ball in the net.
There was not enough time for Holland to get back into this game after the restart ..
Final Score Holland 2 Ransome 3 aet
There was a good crowd at this game and each side was cheering there team to win. and the boys playing in such heat made this a very hard game on such a big pitch.
This was only Hollands second defeat so far this season. and every one at Holland F.C are proud of all the boys of what they have acheived this season... |

| 13/04/2008 - Under 8's Reds End Goal Drought V Oyster |
|
Holland Travelled to bottom Club Oyster for this Fixture. Looking to end a run of four games with out a win.
This Game was played in such a good spirit from both sides.
Oyster may be bottom of the league but there players play with such enthusiasm for the game.
Holland started off really well playing some good football. Alfie Pym at times playing the lone defender as Holland pushed forward time and time again.
Then the breakthrough came with Holland scoring there 1st goal. After this the 2nd was added quickly. Through Bailey Eden and Thomas Collis.
The Boys was again starting to enjoy there football.
Half Time Oyster 0 Holland 2.
The 2nd half got under way with Alfie Pym being replaced by Darnel Wild.
Holland pushed through again and again. Missing opportunities left right and centre.
Holland was then awarded a penalty and up stepped Tommy whyte to take it. He it the ball low which the goal keeper saved.
With Holland now playing at full flight a third was added by Jack Moulton, and then Thomas Collis added the 4th.with a superb struck shot.
George Beer was playing solid and chasing the ball all over. And made some good runs and tackles too.
Finally young Tommy Whyte got his 1st goal for the club, who could have had a hat trick if things had gone right for him.
George fuller then replaced George Beer and slotted into his normal position
Thomas Collis raised his game a bit more. As he was now looking for his 1st hat trick for the club. And we were not disappointed when it came.
Goal Keeper Luke Moncur was a mere spectator in this game as he only touched the ball twice.
Final Score Oyster 0 Holland 6
Holland would like to thank oyster parents and manager and boys for such a good atmosphere at this game. And this is our it should be at this level of football. |

| 13/04/2008 - Under 8's Blues V Oyster Blues |
|
Holland travelled to West Mersea to play oyster on this sunny Sunday morning.
The game started brightly with both sets of teams looking for a win.
But on this day it looked like that this Holland side did not turn up. As there football was all over the place.
With in a couple of minute’s midway through the 1st half Holland found themselves 2 goals down.
The 1st was a bit of a fluke and the 2nd was a well hit shot into the corner
Then it was just a matter of getting to the half time whistle and not conceding any more goals.
Half Time Oyster 2 Holland 0
The halftime team talk. It was asked what time did we start. Then it was asked what time are we going to start. And a few words of wisdom to these boys. Was given
The 2nd half got under way and within 2 minutes Holland scored 2 Goals to draw level.
From then on there was only to be one winner in this game and that was going to be Holland. Who played some lovely football in the 2nd half?
Full Time Oyster 2 Holland 5
I would like so say that this game was played in good spirit from both teams, and the friendly atmosphere from both supporters made this an enjoyable morning. |

SUDBURY V HOLLAND
With Holland not playing for last 3 week's, match fitness was going to play a big part in this game,
Holland recent results have been below par, and needed to pick up points to remain in the top 6,
Holland started really well and were passing the ball well, nice two touch football at times was a pleasure to watch,
On a superb sunbury pitch, and with a superb ref, S,youngs,
Holland were once again enjoying there
football,
Holland had the better of the first half but at half time the game remained goalless,
HT TIME 0.0
Dave Chapman had to be replaced due to a really nasty facial injury,
The young pacey Tony Tully replaced him,
The second half was much like the first but Holland now had real pace on the pitch, with the excellent Gary Overill, and Tony Tully, both were a real danger,
Warren Taylor was replaced by Lewis Wiliden, another young player with bags of skill,
On the hour Holland gained a free-kick, skipper Andy Money crossed to back post, where BLAKE PANRUCKER headed the ball home,
0.1
but within 10 minutes Sudbury level after a real howler by Holland keeper Ball, (the less said the better)
1.1
Holland keep passing and using there pace up front Overill was running the sudbury into the ground, and with Tully and Wilden both playing superb football,
it was only a matter of time before Holland took the lead,
Ross Thorogood scored the winner with 10 minutes to go, superb skill and control took him inside the box, dumid on right foot on to his left and smash the ball into the top corner,
1.2
Shane Hulbert replaced the excellent Skipper Andy Money in last couple of minutes,

| 30/03/2008 - Under 8's Reds . Well done lads V Brightlingsea |
|
The Holland under 8's Lose again should be the headline to this game.
Holland have now gone 115 minutes with out scoring a goal.
The questions might Be asked why, considering we was having a good season,
With a depleted squad at the moment with injury sickness and holidays,we where just about to put a team out for this game,
on reflection to the 7 boys out there, these young boys fought for every ball in this game and worked there socks off for each other,
Only to concide a goal in each half, and even then when they went 2 goals down there heads did not drop.
This was by far the best performance i have seen in terms of commitement and courage of this team this season.
Well done to every player out there on the pitch who gave everthing.
Final Score Brightlingsea 2 Holland 0 |

|
On the Best pitch in this league we witnessed a game of football. with us coming up against a good brightlingsea side.
This was a real battle with either side not giving away much at all.
Holland threw away chance after chance in this match and even missed a penalty..
If one goal had been scored i think it would have been an avalanche of goals
But on this occasion it was just not there day.
